KNOW YOUR MATERIAL

Connect the material to its source and specification

Ocean-bound plastic is discarded plastic at risk of entering the ocean. Collection locations and supporting evidence are reviewed for the selected supply.

  1. 01

    Technical specifications

Request the matching TDS and agree the properties, test conditions and processing requirements needed for your application.

  2. 02

    Origin, traceability & certification

Review available origin and batch records, together with the applicable certificates. Their scope can vary by grade, production site and supply chain.

  3. 03

    Environmental information

Environmental data and LCAs are available for selected materials and production sites. Availability and scope are confirmed for the supply being assessed.

BEFORE YOU SPECIFY

Your next questions, answered.

Key distinctions for a well-defined material enquiry.

What does ocean-bound mean?

Ocean-bound plastic is discarded plastic at risk of reaching the ocean, for example where collection and waste management are inadequate. The term does not itself establish recovery from the sea.

How do I choose a grade?

Start with your polymer, processing method, required properties, colour and finished-product requirements. Ocean Material coordinates specification review and sampling with the relevant supply partner.

Link to this question

Are all grades approved for food contact?

Food-contact requirements must be assessed for the selected grade, processing route and intended use. A colour designation or general polymer description does not establish approval.

Which documents can I request?

Technical specifications, available origin and batch documentation, and the certificates relevant to your selected supply. Their availability and scope are confirmed during sourcing.
