FAQ

Who is Ocean Material®?

At Ocean Material®, our commitment runs deep. We recognize that the battle against ocean plastic pollution is a multifaceted challenge that requires comprehensive solutions. Our first priority has always been to extend our hand to the informal recycling sector, a group of unsung heroes who work tirelessly on the front lines of this crisis. By collaborating with these dedicated individuals and organizations, we aim to build efficient waste management infrastructure, facilitating the responsible handling of plastic waste.

But our mission doesn’t end there. Education is a cornerstone of our efforts. We believe that awareness and understanding are the keys to lasting change. Therefore, we’re equally dedicated to educating these communities about the critical issue of ocean plastic pollution. Through our initiatives, we’re empowering coastal collector communities to make informed choices and contribute to the solution.

Our vision is clear: we aspire to transform global recycling systems. We’re working relentlessly to establish sustainable, inclusive, and circular economies. By fostering a holistic approach to recycling and waste management, we aim to create a world where resources are utilized efficiently, and waste is minimized.

Our mission, in essence, is to empower coastal collector communities through ethical recycling practices and environmental education. We want to ensure that the communities we work with not only benefit from our initiatives but also become advocates for a cleaner, healthier planet.

Ocean Material® consists of two business units:

  • The OM Group, a social enterprise developing efficient and responsible supply chains for marine plastic waste.
  • The OM Foundation, a non-profit action hub with the goal of empowering coastal communities through environmental education.

What is the Circular Roadshow?

The Circular Roadshow is a global educational program led by Ocean Material®. Its aim is to provide practical recycling education to rural coastal areas and raise awareness about ocean plastic pollution. The program primarily focuses on regions that suffer from inadequate recycling infrastructure and poor waste management practices, to drive coastal communities towards a circular future.

What can I do to support The Circular Roadshow?

We’re always in need of funds and resources for our campaigns, which are all non-profit. Please consider making a one-time or recurring monthly donation from our donations page. You can also support us by purchasing products made with Ocean Material® and actively requesting the use of our material from your favorite consumer brand. As always, spreading the word about who we are and what we do is hugely valuable, so please continue sharing our social media posts and telling your friends and family about our campaigns.

When and Where does the campaign take place?

The Circular Roadshow was launched on Monday, May 1st, 2023, and it is an ongoing initiative. Our initial focus will be on locations in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Thailand, and Sri Lanka, with plans to expand to other regions such as India, Indonesia, China, and beyond.

What happens to the money donated?

Every dollar donated to The Circular Roadshow goes toward our program objectives. All funds are directly received by the registered Swiss non-profit organization, SANUSPLANET Foundation (CHE-356.995.395), and 100% of the donations are forwarded to our local operations team. Additionally, we ensure that 90% of all donations received by an NGO partner are allocated towards our direct-action campaign operations.

Who is SANUSPLANET?

The SANUSPLANET Foundation was established in September 2021 with the overarching objective of providing support to global organizations dedicated to the preservation of the marine ecosystem, natural habitats, animal and human welfare.

The SANUSPLANET Foundation receives substantial backing from the innovative financial platform, SANUSPAY, which donates a certain percentage of the payment provider costs to champion environmental, animal and human rights projects worldwide.

It is worth noting that 100% of the donations directed towards SANUSPLANET are seamlessly channelled to non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

In light of this, SANUSPLANET facilitates the establishment and management of dedicated bank accounts for the collection and subsequent distribution of all donations intended for ‘The Circular Roadshow’. Ocean Material® shares a common goal with SANUSPLANET: the reduction of plastic pollution in the ocean. Contributing to ‘The Circular Roadshow’ represents a pivotal and impactful stride toward the realization of our shared goal.
